The World Youth Scrabble Championship 2026 (“WYSC 2026”) is expected to be held in Kenya (Venue TBC) from 7 August 2026 to 9 August 2026. Please refer to www.youthscrabble.org for upcoming details about the event.
Qualifying Period
The qualifying period (“QP”) is from 1 January 2026 to 31 May 2026.
Eligibility
A player is eligible to represent Singapore at the WYSC 2026 if he/she:
- is an SA member, and a Singapore citizen or permanent resident, from the end of
- the QP to the end of WYSC 2026;
- was born on 1 January 2009 or later;
- has played a minimum of 16 SA-rated games during the QP; and
- has registered to SA during the QP their intention to represent Singapore at WYSC 2026 via youth@toucanet.com.
Treatment of Byes
Byes will not be used in the calculation of ratings.
Byes awarded to a player during the QP will count towards the 16-game minimum requirements; byes conceded by a player will not count towards this.
Selection Criteria
Singapore is expected to receive 10 spots for WYSC 2026 which will be allocated as follows:
(i) 8 spots to the top-rated eligible qualifiers at the end of the QP; and
(ii) 2 spots to the top-rated eligible qualifiers below the age of 13 (as of 1 January 2026).
In the event that a qualifier meets both selection criteria (i) and (ii), he/she will qualify under selection criterion (i).
Any remaining spot(s) not allocated under selection criterion (ii) will be awarded to the next top-rated eligible qualifier(s) who has/have not already qualified under selection criterion (i).
The WYSC entry fee will be waived for the eligible qualifiers.
